I love, love, love rooms that are swathed in the same fabulous fabric and pattern all over. If the image is strong enough, why not use it all over? Why complicate things when the answer is right in front of you? Using the same pattern all over is a statement of simplicity and confidence….
Such a traditional application, but it is so terrific– especially when you throw curve-ball accessories into the mix. Be sure to keep the forms and shapes of the furnishings interesting. Some may recall grandma’s guest room, but don’t knock it, it’s a no-fail, no-brainer way to design a room, that is, if you pick the right pattern!

In a time where there is so much emphasis on *not matching* who said a pretty matched room can’t be just as striking? I Love them all!
What a beautiful photo (tobi fairley picture) I love her work. Actually, her use of color reminds me of yours!
Tory’s room is to die for! It’d never fit in a home I would ever live in, but so much fun to look at!
Seems I am having trouble commenting, but just wanted to say I LOVE the Tory B. room!
what a great concept katie! i agree, what’s to say we can’t have great looking rooms that match! does not mean it has to be the room in a bag-look!
I am looking for a toile-paisley type wallpaper like the one in picture number 4. An ideas where I might find something similar? Or do you know where I can find that particular one? The link just tells me Pinterest?? but I cant find any other source?
katie, refreshing as always!

i never usually leave comments but i had to on this one. i read a ton of blogs that focus on the mixing and use of mis-match furniture and accessories. you never see people talking about matching, let alone the fact that it can be totally chic! katie thank u for writing about this, its nice to see a designer who also isn’t on the bandwagon!
best,

The toile in the picture is made by China Seas though Quadrille. It is to-the-trade only so needs to be purchased through a designer. There are several yummy colorways. Another trade source for great toiles is Manuel Canovas. Both have fabric and wallpaper in the patterns and very unusual colorways.
Lastly, a less expensive one would be Thibault, but mostly wallpaper and not so much fabric.
Wait a moinute, I mis-spoke—the green and turquoise is China Seas and the Blue and Cream IS Manuel Canovas. Thought you wanted the green one!
Thank you Katie! My sister- in-law is a designer and although I’d never dare to ask her these questions…….. I will certainly use her for a trade account!!! Thank you!
Nobody does this anymore! These rooms are beautiful, thank you for sharing.

This may be such a silly question. Is a wallpaper and fabric featured in each photo, or do people actually cover walls in fabric? I would imagine that gets pricey. Sorry for the layperson question over Katie!!

Patricia,
People do use fabric to cover walls, but it is very expensive and not very practical. Wallpaper is just as well.
