I haven’t done one of these in a while, and with the week I’ve had, I may be in need of a guilt-free pick me up…..

Disclosure: I have client permission to post this material…

A certain client of mine lives in a beautiful older home that we have been transforming each room for almost 3 years. Yet to be photographed (such is the story of my life right now) it is quickly becoming a story in color, pattern and whimsy Chinoiserie; I cant wait to show you.

We are doing bedrooms now and I have gotten to know her well. Well enough to address the final obstacle coming between me, her and our design plan: a prolific collection of very expensive but appalling faux floral and plant arrangements donning many good looking surfaces.

I finally got the strength and nerve to address the issue: a fast and furious removal of said offenders. Luckily, she is so pleased with our work that she trusts me and listened to my diatribe about the horror of faux florals with good spirits and a belly laugh. Plus the homework of getting rid if them once and for all. Where to donate them? Perfect solution: any local nursing home. Stat!

I will never forget the time a client begged me to decorate her home for Christmas, an absurd proposal for a girl who has never owned a tree, much less the whole kaboodle. I did it, half hysterical, and might I add, it came out pretty darn good looking and certainly festive… I suppose religion doesn’t dictate your ability to conjure up a mood… and it certainly doesn’t have to include red and green. Why not use color as your guide to creating the kind of mood you’re after?

This year I have been asked by the folks at the Concord Museum to design a show-house space for a Holiday House Tour they are sponsoring to benefit the Museum on December 3rd. Local readers, please buy a ticket and come visit!

The fun doesn’t stop there, Rachel Reider, my good friend and the talent who won this year’s New England Home’s 5 Under 40 award, will be collaborating with me and sharing the space. Two small but very capable blondes, one gorgeous home and Christmas on the way. Here comes fun!

While I can’t divulge what we have planned, I CAN show you some before shots. Get your imaginations going. It won’t be traditional, but it will be fabulous and certainly FUN!

Saturday night had the formula for good times; home cooked food, 14 friends, booze…what could be better than that?

Never mind a bizarre unexpected October snow storm—-the weatherman said it would melt by Sunday, it was no big deal. Around eleven, most people wrapped up and headed home, the dinner went off without a hitch, until… a sudden flickering light led to another power outage. $&*%! Havent I paid my dues with this nonsense?! A deep yoga breath and another drink in hand, I sat down with a few party stragglers in the den when…

Yes, this actually happened. This week may be eratic; still no power and a big huge mess to clean up. And we all know, I hate a mess…

Last week there were palettes of canned peas and tomatoes blocking my passage through the entry at the Boston Design Center, and it confounded me. This week I know why. Those cans have been used to construct and install amazing pieces of Pop Art leading up to Thanksgiving, when the food will be donated to those in need. What a great idea and cause. Check out CanStruction… CAN you tell what each of these things made of cans is supposed to be?
